Specific health checkups are medical examinations which aim to pinpoint risks of lifestyle-related diseases in people and help them improve their lifestyles and prevent these diseases.

Eligibility

Anyone aged 40 - 74 years who is enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme

Regarding health checkup tickets

Those aged 40 - 74 years who have been enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme since April 1 will receive a health checkup ticket and medical questionnaire in the post.
You will need these documents if you want to take a specific health checkup.
If you signed up for the National Health Insurance Scheme on April 2 or later and wish to undertake a specific health checkup, please ask at the National Health Insurance Section, Health Insurance and Pension Division of your ward office.

Specific health guidance

Specific health guidance is a support program lasting 3 months aimed at those whose specific health checkup indicated a high risk of developing a lifestyle-related disease, and who can take steps to prevent the condition from occurring by making improvements to their lifestyle. The program has been designed to fit into people's daily lives, allowing them to consult with health professionals such as doctors, public health nurses and nutritionists at the own convenience.
Once you have received a user ticket in the post, please choose an institution that administers specific health guidance(link) (Japanese only)and contact your preferred provider to arrange an appointment.
