Study oftheCorrelation ofClinicalSymptoms,Mental Health and Plasma Cortisol Levels Stress Disorder Abstract obiective:To study theclinicalsymptoms ofpost—traumatic stressdisorder(PTSD),pare plasma cortisol concentration levels inpatients with PTSD group,non—PTSD group and normal controls and tostudy thecorrelation ofclinicalsymptoms,mental healthandplasma cortisol levels. Methods:According toDiagnostic and statisticmanual ofmentaldisorders,4m ed (DSM-IV)criteria,allsubjects were divided intoPTSD group and non—PTSD group. PTSD symptoms were investigatedandsubjects were assessod withSymptom Checklist·90(SCL-90)and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ).Radio-immunity technique was used totestplasma correlationanalysis was conducted to testthecorrelationofmental healthandplasma cortisol levels. Results:The mostconlnlon of PTSD symptoms weremarkedly diminished interest or participation insignificantactivities(%),irritability oroutburstsofanger(%), difficulty falling or staying asleep(%),difficultyconcentrating(%)and recurrent and intrusive distressing recollections oftheevents(%) weredifferent in PTSD symptoms,but recurrent and intrusive distressing recollections of theevents,recurrent illusions andhallucinations etting,between PTSD group and non-PTSD group(P<).SCL-90 score and allsubscores were higher in patients with PTSD thannon—PTSD(P<).EPQ—N score was higher inpatients with PTSD thannon-PTSD(P< 1).Plasma cortisol concentrations inpatients with PTSD(-)and those without PTSD(-)were all lOWer thanthoseinnormal controls(-),P=).In a Pearson correlationmodel,plasma cortisollevelWassignificantly positive correlated with interpersonalsensitivity(r--,P--),depression(r=,P-- 9)of SCL-90 and neuroticism(r=,P=-)ofEPQ.
