When meditating, first adjust your body, and your clothes should be loose, and you should not wear tights. The body should hold the chest and pull out the back, the lower palate should be slightly retracted, the eyes should be closed and the mouth should be closed, the two teeth should be lightly closed, and the tongue should be pressed against the upper palate or placed between the two teeth. Do not overly pry your chest or collapse your waist, as it is easy to cause qi obstruction. Wrap your knees in blankets to keep them warm and prevent wind and cold from invading your joints.

Then there is the adjustment of the mind, taking back the frenzied mind, letting go of all attachments, putting aside all thoughts, and concentrating on meditation. It is to watch your heart, let your heart be attached to the present thought, and don't let your heart be lost. As the "Buddha's Teachings" says: If you control your mind in one place, you can do anything.

The next step is to adjust the breathing, the breathing should be thin, long, slow, and even, not coarse, and not forceful. Only with a smooth and comfortable breath can the state of mind be calm and stable.

The method of labor can be the number of breaths. Or chant Buddha, or participate in meditation, or chant mantras, or visualize. To treat afflictions, you can use the five stops of the mind. That is, the view of impurity, the view of compassion, the view of dependent arising, the view of chanting Buddha, and the view of numbering breaths, etc., these five are the visualization methods practiced to stop and eliminate the afflictions and demonic obstacles in the mind. The view of impurity can cure greed, the view of compassion can cure hatred, the view of dependent origination can cure ignorance, the view of chanting Buddha can eliminate karma, and the view of counting breaths can cure scattered minds. Scholars can practice the corresponding Dharma according to their own afflictions.

Beginners can use the number of breaths to stop the scattered mind, one exhalation and one breath into one breath, from one to ten, then from one to ten, or from ten legs to one, and so on. Young people can count their income, and the elderly can count their income. You can pay attention to your breathing when walking, sitting, or lying down, so that after a long time, the manic heart will naturally calm down.

Through longer meditation time, people's temperament will become gentler, wisdom will also be open, they will become quick-witted, they will be able to think calmly, and their mood will be comfortable, which is the special beauty of meditation.

When meditating, it is easy to have two conditions, such as drowsiness and dropping, which need to be treated. If you experience drowsiness (dozing), visualize the sun or a bright spot until the drowsiness disappears and then work hard, or open your eyes. If you drop (delusions are flying), you can use the method of counting breaths to treat it. As one's concentration deepens, one can practice other contemplations, which vary from person to person.

At the end of the meditation, take three deep breaths, sink the dantian, and then do some movement and massage of the whole body before getting up and exercising. The time can range from ten minutes to several hours, which varies from person to person, and the time can be increased step by step, and the time should not be rushed.
